Eating dumplings, as well as wearing the color red, for Chinese New Year represents good luck.

Dumplings signify family reunions and are a traditional New Year’s Eve food. When folded in a crescent-shape, they symbolize wealth because they look like gold ingots.

My family and I always celebrate with dumplings, taro root dishes, and other traditional foods like noodles. If you’re not married, you get a traditional red envelope with money inside from family and friends.
